An important component of the Noyce Master Teaching Fellowship @ UCSD program is the opportunity for participating teachers to mentor and interact with UCSD STEM majors who may be considering teaching as a career. The UCSD students serve many different roles within a school site and classroom during their classroom experience.
- Classroom Teaching Assistant. These students are typically 3rd and 4th year UCSD STEM majors who serve as small group tutors and mentors in the science and mathematics classroom.
- Apprentice Teachers. These students are 4th year UCSD STEM majors who are committed to pursuing their teaching credential. Under the guidance and supervision of the classroom teacher, the apprentice teacher will experience various parts of whole class instruction.
- Student Teachers. Our graduate students in the Teacher Education Program may be matched with an MTF teacher as their student teacher for the academic year.
- Intern Teachers. The UCSD Department of Education Studies has an Intern Teacher program. An Intern Teacher may be employed at the same school site as some MTF teachers. This would be an opportunity to mentor and support a new teacher in your own department or school.
